Surprise Issue of The Shared Self Publishing Experience! December 18, 2009 |
Ebook Publishing and Year End OpportunitiesI said I wasn't going to send out this newsletter anymore. Well, I'm making an exception... TABLE OF CONTENTS 1) FEATURE ARTICLE: I've added an ebook section to the site. New information - and opportunities - for you.
Charles Allen met one of his writing idols in a barber shop nearly thirty years ago. See where it led.
I've told you before how I've created a huge web presence for my writing and how you can too. Well, the buy-in price just dropped 90%! ===================== This email was designed to be read in an email reader that reads html. If you don't have one or yours is turned off, this letter might not look great but I'm guessing you're still smart enough to make sense of what I'm saying! 1) FEATURE ARTICLE: You can't help but notice the writing community talking about the future of publishing. So many of us cling to "Nothing compares to the feel of a bound book in your hands," while the Kindle and its various electronic cousins make more and more inroads. Not to mention all the reading that is now done on laptop and desktop computer screens! I decided it was time to create an ebooks section of the site. I kicked things off by moving a couple great old posts into the section, by women who have made a real go of selling their writing online. Then I added some of what I myself have learned from selling pictureless picture books on my highly trafficked Best Children's Books site... ...as well as from the experience of posting a trio of ebooks about writing to the Clickbank marketplace: You'll find some good information, but I'm looking for more. If you've self published electronically, I invite you to post about the experience - even if you've already posted about the same book in hard copy. We want to know what it took to prepare the ebook, to make it available for download, and how you draw attention to it. If you're having success selling Kindle downloads, we're especially interested. To post, simply use the form in the ebooks section. Let's get a leg up on the future!
There haven't been a lot of posts lately, but there's been one you won't want to miss. In 1980, Charles Allen had the privilege of meeting Alex Haley one on one. Charles showed Mr. Haley a poem and received some advice that still colors how he writes today. You'll want to read Writing with a Sense of Destiny.
I've been singing the praises of SBI (Site Build It) for some time now. Some of you may have grown sick of hearing it. So I'm going to limit this post to three new developments on the subject. Web hosts bill monthly, but Site Build It never did. Since hosting is one of the services they perform (all for one price), annual billing put them at a competitive disadvantage. No longer. You can try SBI now while committing only $30. Order here. What's the difference between the old and the new? The add-on module that I used to build The Shared Self Publishing Experience, the one that allows my users to post content, is now included with the service, yet the price hasn't gone up. Traffic explodes with this module, because...
Pay for one, get two. It's that simple. Use both or give one away. Take up to 9 months to start work on the 2nd. Please note: The "Buy one, get one free" deal is only available to yearly subscribers, so if you want to do this and pay by the month...no can do. But... Yearly subscribers get a money back guarantee. So if you have the money to spare, this is the better deal. A website that is a true information resource attracts traffic. That's the SBI secret. Live it for yourself.
Thanks for letting me into your inbox! Please remember to post if you've self published electronically, and watch the site for new pages on how to use Clickbank for e-self publishing. Happy holidays to all!
