A Novel of Good Exacting Evil

by Ayme Butavia
(Bogota, NJ)

Henry's Law

Henry's Law

Fiction Genre: Thriller

I am a retired New York State Trooper; I write about crime and punishment in a world where the good guy always wins and the bad guy always gets what he deserves...always.

I tried the traditional publishing route for 7 years--7 did not turn out to be my lucky number. I was surprised at the nasty, unprofessional, replies coupled with no response at all from well regarded publishers /agents.

A friend of mine self-published a book her sister had written shortly before she passed away. I was very impressed with the quality of the book --she used a company called IUniverse. I decided to go with them, too and am very pleased with the result. Now, Marketing 101 is my focus as I haven't any experience in this field--but, I'm ready for my uphill battle. Remember-IF YOU DON'T AT LEAST TRY, YOU'LL DEFINITELY NOT GET ANYWHERE, IF YOU TRY--THE SKY'S THE LIMIT!

Any how, I'll be attending an arts fair in September, 2009, in Edgewater, NJ; I've also advertised in their booklet; I'll report back after the art fair--maybe with good news?!

Good and Evil According to a Cop!
by: Steve B. (webmaster)

Hi, Ayme! What an apt niche you've chosen for yourself. And it strikes me that you have a heck of a marketing hook. (I'm a HUGE fan of Joseph Wambaugh.) Have you been able to promote yourself as ex-cop/crime novelist at all?

Hey: when I visited your website, your template was showing! ;-)

(If folks take a look, they'll see what I'm talking about. At least until Ayme cleans it up! And Ayme, I should tell you that we talk a lot about websites here.)

I didn't know about this company that sold you the template and the hosting, American Authors. It looks like a technically functional product that will serve you just fine when people come looking for you and your book.

But the price knocked me out! $399 for setup??? Plus $29.95 per MONTH?

Ouch!

We talk a lot here about the difference between sites that get found by people who are looking for you, compared to sites where people who aren't looking for you find you, too.

Obviously, it's better to have the 2nd kind of site. Unless you know a few billion people!

This American Authors outfit is charging you a huge fee for the first kind of site. I've gotta tell you, it makes me appreciate the outfit I use (that allows me to build the 2nd kind of site) even more. I'm paying less than you are!

No set-up and less per month!

Take my other site. It gets found over 1000 times PER DAY by people who have never heard of me or my work.

So please do get back to us about the art fair (good luck!) and tell us if you feel you're getting your money's worth out of the website. Maybe I'm missing something!

(And thanks for posting.)
