St. Anne's Helper Catechism Copybook - Catholic Ebooks

St. Anne's Helper Catechism Copybook - Catholic Ebooks

Hi Steve! I'm another SBIer who has really benefitted by being able to build a website to sell our products.

Thanks for the link, here's the story.

o o o

As we were teaching our children we realized that a good portion of the effort needed to really study a topic could be reduced if we had a copybook format on our catechism Audiobooks. If the material was right there for the children to copy the effort of writing would be reduced so that the learning and memorizing would go easier. Added bonus? Handwriting and spelling skills were possible, too.

We had done this for our own children in a format that offered the text to copy in a font that was what we wanted the children to imitate, or as close to it as we could get.

As our CDs and Download sales took off, we realized that these copybooks would be salable as well. We chose to use PayLoadz at the time since it had the first month free. We had no idea we would meet with the success that we have. PayLoadz also has an affiliate program (click the link above, then click "Become a Reseller" at the bottom of the page), which means that we now have other sites that sell our ebooks. By directing others to PayLoadz we also receive a commission if those visitors sign up as one of PayLoadz' affiliates.

My sister is a graphics artist and was able to email us a copy of our work in pdf format within the hour of our emailing it to her. We then uploaded them to PayLoadz.

It was a fairly simple process. Our info resides at PayLoadz and they send out the product with copy protection. This has worked well for us and we have sold hundreds of dollars worth during the months of September, October, and November each. These are not yet our real season. We have yet to see the First Communion and Confirmation season months of March through May.

Simply put, we designed what we wanted our students to know and offered them to others. The design and the content were what others sought, so our business has grown to being nearly half Catholic ebooks!

Hope that this is an encouragement to others. PayLoadz and ClickBank are awesome partners.

Disappointing Self Publishing Experience
by: Mary

Hello, Steve.

Thanks for this great site! I've learned a lot from it and respect what you have done here.

My post would be incomplete if I did not let you and your readers know that we have found many reasons to switch from PayLoadz to E-Junkie.

There is more in the SBI Forum, yet not all is resolved, so more cannot be said. As our sales were growing there were glitches that have stil not been resolved for most of 2 months. There are blogs that give warnings that reflect what we have suffered. See below.

'Just a heads up!

SBI forums
by: Steve B. (webmaster)

Regarding Mary's mention of the Site Build It forums below, if any readers are interested in SBI, know that I can get you a free pass into the forums.

You won't be able to post, but you'll be able to witness the magic that goes on in there. SBIers freely share information and strategies and how-tos on the process of sitebuilding and the business of monetizing. By my last count, there are over a million posts. It's an encyclopedia of info on making the Web work for you.

Use the Contact button at left to ask me for the password to get into the forums.

Second Half Of Catechism Ebook Publishing
by: Mary Again

You will want to read the beginning of this message in the next comment lower since this is the second half of it.

===================

We were very new to these corners of the Internet and did not know how to maintain our security, so we were happy for the PayLoadz option. The price seems comparable to eventually better per sale, we have plenty of space, and have security.

We remain happy, too. Since the security issue (theft of one's intellectual product, not site or computer security) seems not to be much of a problem, according to our friends on the SBI! Forums, we are in the process ourselves of comparing CB and PayLoadz. When we are ready to commit to the $49.95/product we might sign up with ClickBank as well simply to have a second affiliate source and be able to make the comparison between PayLoadz and CB. When security is a "problem" it can be offset with hyperlinks inside the product that link back to your site and affiliates, which is a bit of a way to spread the word and thereby increase traffic to your site and income. One SBIer said that in several years with CB he may have had one or two thefts, yet once he got over his original indignation he realized that all he really "lost" was a few electrons!

We would be happy to hear any clarifications that you know since we find it hard to relinquish the security at PayLoadz, yet are tempted by not having to pay affiliates every month and having to send the 1099 (light weight work done with a few clicks). We're in this for the long haul with new products in line and want the most hands free option available. There's nothing as fun or exciting as esales filling the inbox!

I'll be posting this in the SBI Forum - Do You RUN An Affiliate Program? to see what advice I get from there as well.

Catechism Ebook Publishing
by: Mary

Hi, Steve.

Thanks for the excellent descriptions. We do not yet use ClickBank, but are studying the possiblity since SBI! can host our product. We used Payloadz simply because they offered the first month free and hosted the data securely. We have many friends who use ClickBank, though, and we are studying the possiblity of switching or adding ClickBank to our list for affiliation. It was hard at first to discern which are the best affiliate programs since not all of the fine print and price increases were available when we first inquired and signed up.

The main differences we can see are that:

PayLoadz had no upfront fee and securely hosts and delivers our Catholic ebooks. We can also sell through EBay, yet we haven't gotten that far yet. The surprise to us came when we were required to up our level due to our increase in sales! It was fine since it was a smaller percentage, allowed more storage, and we can go back down to the lower level later; yet sales would have stopped, apparently, if we had not caught the email that said we were at that point. We also must make separate clicks to pay our affiliates through PayPal and probably have to send in our own 1099. The fee per sale (about 10%) and the monthly charge ($15/mo till $300 10GB, $25/mo till $600 50GB) total the same as CB's 15%, yet that charge will go lower (down to 12 and 10.1% if you include the per sale fee) as our sales/month go higher. CB's doesn't seem to go lower. The danger here is a low sale month that still has the monthly charge. A benefit with the higher level also includes an increase in secure storage space, after 150GB storage is unlimited. We sell Audiobooks enhanced with text so this increased space is also a consideration for us.

ClickBank has a $49.95 upfront fee for each product (with the out that you can load 10 products with the first, but the other nine do not go to their Market Place), yet does not host the product or deliver securely. The per sale fee seems to be 15% which is fine if you consider that CB itself is an affiliate to you in this way. You must host the product and provide your own "security". It seems that ClickBank pays affiliates and sends in the 1099 which appeals to us, especially as we grow. We like that the fee per sale does not incur a monthly charge during months with low sales. I say "seems" since I cannot find out (with a quick perusal through your link to many links on CB) how many GB we can load and for which prices without registering on a long fill-in the blank, precisely my problem in March 2009 with PayLoadz.

More in the next comment - this form would not accept more than 3000 characters!

Selling with Payloadz...and Clickbank
by: Steve B. (webmaster)

Kevin, Mary, thanks for posting! Always glad to hear from others in the Site Build It family!

You mention at the end of your post that you use both Payloadz AND Clickbank. I'm wondering if you could tell us how you use both and which is better for which purposes?

Readers: As soon as Kevin and Mary mentioned Payloadz, I visited. Why? Well, to be completely honest, I wanted to see if there was money to be made.

There is! As Kevin and Mary mentioned, Payloadz has an affiliate program. (So does Clickbank.) Affiliate programs are a key way web entrepreneurs monetize.

As publishers with an e-book to sell, affiliate programs are a sales force multiplier. Kevin and Mary not only sell the book from their site, they encourage other webmasters to post links to it (and make money from sales) as well.

I encourage you to go visit both Payloadz and Clickbank using the links above. Learn how these services work! Warning: I don't think English is the first language of whoever did the copy writing for Payloadz.

The moral of this story is that you can't sell e-books without generating e-traffic! Payloadz and Clickbank can supply some, but nothing works better than your own dedicated website on the broader subject you're trying to generate sales within. Roman-Catholic-Catechism.com has over 100 pages!

Kevin? Mary? Thanks!
