Clive's Website & Blog
by Clive
(Hampshire England)
Guardian (or Gardian?)
Site: www.clive.uk.com
How much traffic do you get? Average about 7 hits a day
How much comes from the search engines? 27%
How much money and time have you put into the site? A lot of time, about 75 GBP on software and 3 GBP a month on hosting.
Has the site met your expectations?
No the traffic is not building as I hoped and I have only had two online purchase since my book has been available (Beginning of April)
From reading the information on your site my domain name is poor and the content is not relevant to my book. I think it may be pulling in the wrong type of visitor. Perhaps splitting up the site with a book specific one linked to the old site may help. Any other things I can do to make improvements?
Thanks
Clive
Clive, how the heck did you get your domain name? I had the understanding that about 70% of the men in Britain (though only 15% of the women) were named Clive. The competition must have been fierce!
I think your inclinations about your site in its current state are apt, and it starts with your domain name.
clive.uk.com would be a great url for a site about all those people in the UK named Clive. Type
Famous Clives into your favorite search engine and up comes your site!
Which would actually be a great idea, if you thought that people named Clive would have a natural inclination to buy your book. Unfortunately, I doubt that's the case.
In truth, Clive, I'm a moron. I posted your other page to the site -
Partnership Publishing in the UK - and provided you an
unsolicited site review (American style!) there, before seeing your post here.
So how about we all take the conversation over there! Read Clive's TERRIFIC post, then my unsolicited site review that follows. In it, I make a suggestion for a more focused site...but it's not the only way to go. We can discuss further...
