Fantasio fine Arts | Cover artworks and illustration

My name is Oliver Wetter, born 1978 in Trier / Germany. Drawing was always a natural form of expression for me since i can think.

In 2007 i finished 4 years study and 2 years masterclass by Roland Kuck with a diploma degree in "Airbrush -design" at the arts center Ibkk in Bochum / Germany and specialized in illustration.

I have a passion for retro, Steampunk and Victorian inspired sci-fi and fantasy characters with bold colors and a teasing effect from thumbnail size.

My strength is to create believable characters out of a short briefing within a tight deadline.

Since 2008 i work as freelance illustrator and artist, doing book and magazine covers for European und International publishing houses.

As illustrator i´m experienced with conducting working relationships via phone and e-mail, my rates are reasonable and depending on project -basis for negotiation.

Among my artistic influences i count: Gerald Brom, Todd Lockwood, John Jude Palencar, Don Dos Santos, Michael Parkes, Hajime Sorayama, Ashley Wood and John Foster.

My artistic approach is to mix the common with the uncommon and digital with traditional, and experimentation within these 4 elements all over.

With time i´ve broaden my range of expertise into direction of photography, sculpting and digital postproduction.

Licencing of existing images is possible to some extent and also basis for negotiation, inquiries are welcome.

Best in the Business
by: J.S. Chancellor

My name is J.S. Chancellor, author of the Guardians of Legend Trilogy (coming to stores and online November 2010). I commissioned Oliver to do the artwork for my first novel, knowing he was an excellent artist. What I didn't know was the breadth of vision he has, the unbelievable dedication to his craft and the passion he has for art. I wasn't merely impressed, I was blown away. I've worked with varying artists in the past for other projects (and I'm related to a career artist), so I know enough about the industry to know that what I found in Oliver isn't common. Without question, I'm going to commission him to do the other two books in the trilogy, along with several other projects that are lined up for the next few years.

His ability to do well, more than one style of artwork, is also very impressive. His scope is unreal. Do yourself a favor and go glance at his gallery at Fantasio Fine Arts. You'll immediately see what I mean. So, no matter what mood your piece has, I'm quite certain he'll be able to accommodate. I simply can't put into words what an amazing job he's done for me.

In fact, I was about to accept an offer to do the cover from a very well known fantasy illustrator when I ran into Oliver's gallery. After one email exchange, I had a good feeling about him and knew he was who I was looking for. I truly believe it was the best decision I could have made. Oliver's rendering of Garren was so much more than I'd dreamed it could be. He pulled things out and highlighted things about the character that I hadn't even told him. He knows how to actively listen and as long as you are willing to put some faith in him, he'll show you things about your own creations that you didn't even know. This was an amazing experience for me and taught me a lot as an author.

Oliver is a consummate professional, and a brilliant artist: Hire him, you won't regret it!

Extraordinary Art, Fair and Friendly
by: H.W.Lewis

My dealings with Oliver (aka Fantasio) have been pleasant and positive from the onset. I had difficulty obtaining an account with paypal during my initial transaction, and Oliver was patient and understanding throughout. When my publisher required a higher resolution image, Oliver responded quickly and courteously. His artwork is visionary, at the very least extraordinary. I highly recommend him as an artist and illustrator.
