Hollywood Kiss and Tell Book

The little book that could - persistence pays off!
I have been going back and forth about writing this book for years.
I was an actress and model in LA for over twenty years and have so many stories. My family and friends convinced me that I should share these stories in book form.
I read everything I could find on the internet on how to write your autobiography. It took me a total of 8 months to write rewrite and then rewrite again. Because I am not a professional write I needed a good editor. I found a great web site called scribendi.com. The editor put his spit and polish on it and made it come to life. They did it at a very affordable price as well.
I then got into writing a book proposal that consisted of an an Cover Letter Overview, synopsis, competeing books and target audience, marketing plan and a sample chapter.
I sent out 50 or 60 packages with no luck. One after another rejection letters started filling my mailbox. I was crushed and almost gave up. I decided to self publish with
Createspace and that process took another 2 months. It didn't cost me a thing just my time.
The book has been out a little over a month and with one press release. I used freepressrelease.com got 5 magazine articles and 7 radio interviews! I have sold 2500 books so far and am learning as I go about marketing.
Since I was getting so much media atttention I decided to email several literary agents. I sent them a query letter. I got 5 responses out of 50 queries. I signed with The Lownie agency in the UK. I love Andrew's enthusiasm and belief in my book. He's helping me polish it up so that publishers will bite.
I have found this journey to be incredibly satisfying and wish you all the best. Just remember don't let anyone tell you you can't do it. If I can do it anyone can!
Good Luck, Peggy
