Independent Author / Publisher / Bookseller
by Eliza Earsman
(Ireland temporarily.)
BACKGROUND INFO: Identifiably specific is the reason there has been such fierce UGLE Mountbatten-Windsor (United Grand Lodge England - British Royal Family) contention against Days of Elijah going public or author Eliza Earsman still being alive. There is no controversy.
SELF PUBLISHING: as necessarily having to publish has taught me, becoming an author/publisher is a learning curve, the details of which should not be underestimated.
It took me a while - via specific visits to New York and New York based publishing houses - to recognize that rejection letters were coming from 'One World Government' Masonic conglomerates. Masonic conglomerates now own most of the major publishing houses and, with mammon as the bottom line, these houses do not necessarily produce the best work. See e.g. BMG (Bertelsmann)/others.
Scottish Ritual Freemasonry's agenda - as can be seen in recent historical details - is to (try to) establish One World Masonic Government. They can work very much against free speech/publication and much damage is being done. Quality literature now very much depends on small presses and self-publishers for exposure and distribution.
As urgent, Days of Elijah had to be in the public domain. After an unhealthy start in 2003 with Trafford Publishers (of Canada and Ireland), I determined to go public via the internet and set about creating my first website (not a bad effort as things turned out). Note: Trafford do not now have a Managing Director/office in Ireland and the Canadian staff structure has been changed!
Days of Elijah became therefore, in 2003, freely available and the website links were sent to many in international arenas.
As was intended, the non-fiction work was independently authenticated and carries good Testimonials and Review (more always appreciated).
Authors: we can take control. Form and own a publishing company. Read books on the subject. Buy/register ISBN's. Register publication details with e.g. Ingram/Nielsen etc. Register CIP, P-CIP, Copyright etc. Do the legwork - we can learn! Self publish, use Print on Demand, strive for quality and production. For Days of Elijah purposes I did this and, in 2008, Days of Elijah went to a second soft cover printing.
Utilizing Print on Demand is becoming the sensible thing for major and smaller publishers. Storage costs, loss on remainders, expensive upfront charges greatly eases the process for allowing original voices to be heard.
Following negative experience with LSI UK I chose to print on demand (POD) with Booksurge USA, an Amazon subsidiary. Days of Elijah by Eliza Earsman is therefore directly linked to the amazon.com website and carries a substantial discount.
I chose also to have a traditional printing via a US book printer and have book distribution via Book Clearing House in New York. This has the benefit of allowing the publication to be linked to the Ingram database, an ordering database used by many traditional booksellers.
Unseasoned writers self publish disregarding errors which could have been corrected. I should know! I learned the hard way that some who advertise as being 'professional' and who base work input on 'easy quotes' or 'flat fees' - however professional they may make their Resumes/sales pitch sound - are not always best equipped to produce acceptable work.
I have made the mistakes - too often to be ignored - of paying in advance (Editor/Indexer/original Typesetter who was also the original Cover Designer) and expecting quality work to be returned. Not best policy! Strife can be avoided by stipulating that payment will be complete on acceptable work completion.
Publishers: We can organize to support each other, give news updates, and have websites generating interest and support for books of merit. We can include Book Reviews and notices of New Releases. Reviewers and Booksellers who give encouragement and shelf or web space can be supported by the same networking authors/SP. Let's not be slow in coming forward! Link reciprocally.
Creativity, variety and international co-operative efforts (and this Publisher would like to know more from interested parties) that utilize the Internet can create exposure. Some bookstores - traditional and online - find that a mix of both used and new books work well. Is it feasible to have a bookstore catering only for Self Publishers, especially in the run-up to major present buying events e.g. Christmas and Thanksgiving?
Having done what I can so far - and Days of Elijah is advertised on several professional international websites - I am now seeking Marketing professionals who can profit from results. Fresh eyes can only be beneficial. Vast is the difference between writing, publishing, and the actual marketing.
I am a member of the International Christian Literary Community. Traveling internationally I have done much, not always conventionally, to raise international awareness re Days of Elijah.
(Recent travels have included USA, Canada, Israel, Jordan, Eastern Europe, Holland, Portugal, France, Spain, Ireland, Scotland, Korea, Australia.)
International support is apparent for the translation of 'Days of Elijah' into eventual feature film production. A free monthly book GIVEAWAY is detailed on the website at the end of FAQ's.
An affiliated 11,000 word book of verse is in the backlog. Publication will hopefully be soon.
Wish me well!
