Loose Paint Art by Jeffrey Holmes

by Jeffrey Holmes
(Minneapolis, MN, USA)

Secrets

Secrets

I live in Minnesota and am 49 years old. My style of expression is rooted in abstract art with a strong connection to graphic design and I often merge the two. I primarily use Adobe Photoshop CS4 and Corel Painter X and the native vector graphics in both are generally sufficient, but I also work with Adobe Illustrator CS4 as needed.

The image I'm providing is my first commercial publishing job. My father asked me to do the cover art for his first published novel "Secrets" (North Star Press of St. Cloud Inc.) which will be out Fall 2009. They were pleased with my work and I realized that publishing may be an area for me to explore.

I've been in Information Technology for 25 years and it's provided me with my technical skills, but it's not as creative as I had hoped. In spite of that I still sketch and try to incorporate natural media into my digital art. I work on my portfolio every day.

I have no formal art schooling. I was born an artist and have been involved in it my entire life, but have lived a life of duality. My children are grown now and I've spent the past 4 years preparing to move out of the corporate world to do the work I was meant to. I work from home.

My IT job provides me with money, so my goal is exposure and a complete portfolio. Fees are negotiable and my least concern.

I'm a very laid back night-owl, but am extremely responsible. Tight deadlines in my corporate IT work are as natural as breathing.

With book covers, art is widely varied. An artist has to be prepared to shift their focus drastically from one project to the next.

I'm a published book illustrator with ingenuity, a unique style, and I tirelessly strive for uncommon quality.

I have six years experience as a freelance illustrator and my expertise includes development from concept to final print. No project is too large or small and I'm dedicated to meeting deadlines with 100% client satisfaction and will guarantee a complete refund if your expectations aren't met.

I'm an excellent communicator and believe that, that skill is crucial to success.

I've found that in combining my driven, artistic nature, with an eye for detail, quality, a strong work ethic and constant creative development, my clients are well-served, promoting profitable, long-term business relationships.

I very much look forward to serving you.
