Magical Realism and Fantasy

Towpath Troubadours
I paint in a style I would describe as "Magical Realism", in that it is generally representational, but usually with a "dreamscape" feel to the overall composition. I use vivid colours, often enhanced perspective, and complex, often heavily peopled compositions, to evoke a strong sense of "narrative" to the overall image. Ideal for capturing the essence, or key moments in a book in a vivid and immediately accessible way.
The sample image above, "Towpath Troubadours", displays this mix - being a basically representational painting of a scene in my home town, but with exaggerated perspective and the addition of imagined musicians and boats.
I paint mainly in the field of fine art, paintings and prints, but also use my designs for mugs, T shirts, cards, etc. However my style is easily adaptable, and very appropriate for book covers too. I am only now, finally being a full time artist at last, seeking to enter the field of book cover design, but have spent 25 years selling my art via commissions, galleries, exhibitions, and my own and other websites. I would be happy to work closely with any author who likes my style, to achieve a book cover to your liking - remuneration to be negotiated depending on the time required.
