Obama

Obama, represents a light of hope
Shining bright, where once it shone dim
The first president of colour
Black and white ... equally welcoming him

This world is ready for change
Moving forward with freedom of choice
They have chosen Obama as president
United, as one voice

Today, January 2009
We watch as history was made
They cheered as the oath was spoken
Obama's message, then, relayed

His words were powerful and strong
He Emanates confidence and pride
He spoke to the wealthy and poor
And reaching out his hand to allies

Obama represents dreams
An historical dream comes true
Bringing a nation closer together
A feat ... that was long over due

Never have expectations been so high
Nor have emotions been so raw
This changing time in history
Has left the world...in awe

Nature's flower

The flower, one of nature's best
Is there for all to see
Reaching upward towards the sun
Enhancing its beauty

The petals, unique in their own way
Clustered tightly together and yet
Each is its own, a separate entity
As precious as the droplet of sweat

The leaf, green, sometimes jagged
Clings to a single stem
It's there as an extension
Like the cut on a brilliant gem

The earth is its foundation
To protect, nurture, its task
Against many perils of nature
Delicate as a fine piece of glass

An astounding array of colors
Sets the tapestry for nature's bouquet
It started from a lonely seed
And its beauty ... is there on display.
