Who Runs The Show Here? Me...
Steve Barancik

Steve Barancik welcomes you

Barancik Steve

Hello, and welcome to The Shared Self Publishing Experience.

I've been in the writing business for a little over 20 years. I made my name as a screenwriter.

In recent years, I've turned away from that. Steve Barancik, screenwriter, made a bunch of money for a time, but it was tough, often unrewarding work, and it was very rare to see my vision make it to the screen - even rarer to see it make it to the screen unscathed.

I've turned instead to arenas where I can be my own boss and decide for myself when my work is ready to show to the public. I perform my own comedy once in awhile, in conjunction with a comedy troupe called Monolog Cabin, and I have my websites.

(This one, and another called Best Children's Books - Find, Read or Write. I also work with my wife, a dietitian, on her website, Your Personal Nutrition Guide.)

Make no mistake about it: these websites are written. (Except for those parts that our visitors write.) I remain a writer and will always be.

Most of the people who visit this site are writers as well. It is for you, my colleagues, that I penned a page that appears on my other site.

You won't find everything,
but when you do...wow!

I call it Steve Barancik: A "Warts and All" Bio.

In it I share my lifelong writer's journey, and for that reason it's quite lengthy. I get great feedback on it from other writers: aspiring AND established.

Similar to the self publishing accounts on these pages, it details where my limited talent, moderate discipline and unique vision - combined with good breaks and bad - have taken me. It's one person's story of what being a writer is and is like.

It's been 16 years since I held a 9 to 5 job, and I don't intend to go back. These websites are part of that plan. I wish you the best on your own writer's journey, and I hope that The Shared Self Publishing Experience can help make the road a little less rocky.
