Vocal Training Books

Vocal Gymnastics CD & Booklet Set

Vocal Gymnastics CD & Booklet Set

I am listing just one product for this venue; however all of my Vocal Training Books, Booklets, and CD's are listed on my website.

All of the products are self-published and based on the teachings of the late Maestro David Kyle of Seattle WA.

This has been a process of many years, due to having problems finding a stable, hard-working graphics artist (which thankfully I now have).

The first thing I did was acquire a business license, business checking account and create a business plan for myself. I also did research on copyright issues, ISBN's and UPC codes - learning when to use which ones and all the legal issues. I might mention that I also have a good music attorney who has advised me as well.
I would say that these are the essentials of self-publishing.

We now print most of our own books and bind them ourselves; we duplicate all our CDs and DVDs so we don't have to stockpile thousands of copies. It's enough to keep a minimum of product stored when you have as many products as we do.

I design my product, record it, help create the graphics designs, edit, print, and market all myself. It's one of those things where you take it a step at a time but as I mentioned, get your ducks in a row first - make sure you are doing everything legally. Get a good web designer - that will cost but is well worth the price. If you self-publish then you have control of your work and your reputation. That may change if you sell your work to a big publishing company, but that depends on your product and how much upfront money you have. Self publishing is much less expensive and a surer bet, in my opinion.

My next step is to hire a good agent to promote my books even further. However, I have had great luck selling on-line. I am waiting until I have all the products completed before I actually hire an agent, but that is probably not the smartest way to go. It's just what I choose to do because I have an ill mother who consumes much of my time and right now we are staying low-key.

2nd most prominent Judy Clark, according to Google
by: Steve B.

It's true. There are a lot of Judy Clarks in the world, but if you google "Judy Clark," THIS Judy comes up #2. And #1 is in prison!

(I'm pretty sure that I'm the most prominent Steve Barancik on the planet, but that's not saying much.)

Okay, why am I mentioning this? Because I suspect that Judy is high profile enough that she qualifies as the exception to one of my internet marketing rules. That rule is this:

If you want to attract search engine traffic, don't use as your domain name your own name or your book's title. Better, get a domain name that speaks to a popular search term that might attract visitors who would be interested in your book.

(How do you find such a search term? You do your research. You find it.)

Judy's an exception, I suspect, because people DO search for her.

I suspect.

If that's the case, Judy's got a terrific site, and a terrific plan. Her books are only one component.

Judy, I love that you're printing and binding your books and duplicating your own CDs. You clearly take the notion of SELF publishing seriously!

Thanks for sharing your very professional approach with us.
